Kang Tae-joo is the only rookie actor among the cast, selected from 1000 people in the audition for Sad Tropics. Kim’s co-stars feature experienced actors like Go Ara, known for starring in historical action drama Haechi (2019), and music romance drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (2020) and Kim Kang-woo, who recently starred in mystery thriller film Recalled, and horror film Guimoon: The Lightless Door. Kim Seon-ho had earlier been caught in an abortion scandal in October, and was later approved to film for Sad Tropics after leaked texts somewhat rehabilitated his image. Go Ara, Kim Kang-woo and Kang Tae-joo have been confirmed in a cast announcement to join Kim Seon-ho in Korean film Sad Tropics.
